Who is responsible for your information
This site, freeaustraliancitizenshiptest.com.au, is operated by Eprotech Pty Ltd, ABN 43 644 335 535, an Australian company.
We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
### When you just practise
You do not need an account to practise. Even so, your visit leaves some information with us:
- your IP address, and the rough area it points to (country, and usually city and postcode) - your browser and the kind of device you are on, and the language it is set to - the pages you asked for, the time, and how long the page took to serve - the page or search that sent you here, and any campaign tags in the link you followed - the answers you choose in a practice test, and the result
We use this to keep the site working, to see which questions people get wrong most, and to decide what to write next. We do not try to identify you from it.
### When you create an account
An account is optional. You only need one if you want your results kept between visits.
- Email address. This is how you sign in and how we reach you. - First and last name, if you choose to give them. - The date of your real test, if you tell us, so we can show you how long you have. - Your practice history. Tests taken, scores, questions saved, and which topics still need work.
We do not store a password for this site. You sign in with a one-time link we email to you, or through a sign-in provider if you choose that instead. If you sign in with a provider, we receive your email address from them and whether that address is verified. We do not receive your password.
### When you send us a message
The contact form collects your name, your email address and your message, so we can reply. We keep a record of the message and of our reply.
Before the form is accepted it runs a human check (Cloudflare Turnstile) to stop automated spam. The check tells us whether the submission looks like a person. It is not used to profile you.
### When you buy the optional extra
Payment is handled by secure third-party payment processors, Stripe and PayPal, through Eprotech's own checkout at secure.eprotech.com.au. We do not store full credit card numbers. You enter your card details with the provider, on the provider's own page. We receive a record that the payment succeeded, and the email address used. We do not see or store your full card number.
Cookies, analytics and your consent choice
We use cookies and similar technology for two things:
1. To make the site work. This remembers that you are signed in, keeps a practice test together from one question to the next, and protects the contact form. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site. 2. To count visits. We use Google Analytics to see how many people use the site and which pages they use. Google acts as our service provider for this and processes the data on its own systems.
When you answer the cookie notice, we record the choice you made so that we do not ask you again and so we can show that your choice was honoured.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. If you block the essential ones, parts of the site will stop working. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's own browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
No advertising
This site shows no advertisements.
We do not run an advertising network on these pages, we do not place advertising cookies, and we do not share information about you with advertisers or ad networks.
Why we use your information
- to run the site and keep your practice results together - to answer your messages - to send the sign-in link you asked for, a receipt if you bought the optional extra, and notices about your account or about changes to this policy - to find and fix wrong questions, broken pages and errors - to keep the site secure, and to stop spam, fraud and abuse - to meet our obligations under Australian law
We do not use your information to make any automated decision that affects you.
### Email we send you
Some email is part of the service and you cannot turn it off while you have an account: your sign-in link, a receipt, a password-free account notice, a reply to your own message.
Anything promotional is separate. We only send it if you have agreed to it, and every one of those messages has an unsubscribe link. This follows the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Where your information is kept
Some of the services above store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as a law requires.
- Account and practice history: kept only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as Australian law requires. Where records are needed for legal, taxation (ATO) or audit purposes we may be required to keep them for up to 7 years; after that they are deleted or de-identified. - Server logs and analytics data: kept only as long as needed to run and secure the site, then deleted or de-identified. - Messages you send us and our replies: kept only to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange, then deleted or de-identified.
When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it. If you ask us to delete your account, we de-identify the record rather than leaving your name and email address sitting in it.
Your rights and how to use them
Write to [email protected] for any of these. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand your information to someone else. We aim to answer within 30 days.
- See what we hold. Ask for a copy of your personal information. - Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it. - Delete it. Ask us to close your account and delete or de-identify what we hold. Some records have to be kept for a period required by law, and we will tell you if that applies. - Withdraw consent. Where you gave consent, you can take it back. That does not undo what we did before you withdrew it. - Stop marketing email. Use the unsubscribe link, or just tell us.
If you are not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
This site is for adults preparing for the citizenship test. We do not aim it at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information with the measures you would expect of a site like this: an encrypted connection (HTTPS), restricted access to the systems that hold the data, and no stored passwords to be stolen.
No website can promise perfect security. If a data breach ever put you at risk of serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Privacy Act requires.
Links to other sites
We link to the Department of Home Affairs and to other outside pages. We do not control those sites and this policy does not cover them. Read their own privacy policies before giving them information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will change the "Last updated" date at the top and publish the new version on this page. If a change matters to you, we will say so more loudly than that.
